Common Questions

Your Questions, Answered

1. What does a celebrant actually do?

A celebrant works with you to create and deliver a personalised ceremony that reflects your story, values, and wishes. Whether it’s a wedding, naming ceremony, vow renewal or even a pet memorial, the focus is on making the moment meaningful and uniquely yours.

I offer a wide range of ceremonies including weddings, civil partnerships, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, same-sex celebrations, anniversaries, retirement ceremonies, divorce celebrations, pet memorials, and milestone birthdays.

The ceremonies I conduct are not legally binding. They are ideal for couples who have already legally solemnised their marriage with a registrar in a simple, private ceremony, and who wish to celebrate their joy with their closest family and friends.

Nb. Your registrar can also perform any legal procedures in a designated room before your ceremony.

Absolutely – every ceremony is unique. You can include personal vows, readings, music, symbolic rituals, humour, or cultural traditions. You might even choose a theme, such as a particular colour palette or style of dress – whatever feels right for you.

Yes, wholeheartedly. Love is love, and I am proud to offer inclusive ceremonies for same-sex couples and all identities, ensuring everyone feels celebrated and respected.

As much or as little as you like. Some clients have a clear vision, while others prefer guidance. I’ll support you throughout, offering ideas, structure, and reassurance so the process feels enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

Almost anywhere. Celebrant-led ceremonies give you the freedom to choose meaningful locations, from mountain tops to sandy beaches. Unlike legally binding ceremonies, the ceremony I create for you is completely free from restrictions. It can take place at any time, in any setting, and be shaped around what matters most to you—whether that’s religious, cultural, spiritual, or entirely personal to your lifestyle.

Most couples book 6–12 months in advance, particularly for peak dates. Once your venue is secured, I recommend getting in touch to check availability.

If your plans are on a shorter timeline, please do enquire – I will always do my best to accommodate you.

On the day, I arrive early to coordinate with your venue and suppliers, ensure everything runs smoothly, and deliver your ceremony with warmth and professionalism. My aim is for you to feel relaxed, present, and able to fully enjoy the moment.
